03/12/2007- Conwy has seen a fall of 23% in crime this year

"Members of the Conwy Community Safety Partnership (CSP) were delighted to hear of their success in the reduction of crime in their area, at the meeting of the Partnership Executive on 16th November. Stephen Hughes the Partnership analyst informed the group that they are the 4th best performing CSP in their family of most similar CSP's (with excellent crime recording standards) and 3rd best performing CSP in Wales (behind Denbighshire and Wrexham) and within the top quartile in the UK (out of 376 CSP's) Conwy has seen a fall of 23% in crime this year, (compared to the 2003/04 baseline) against a target of 20%.
This equates to over 1,500 fewer victims of crime in the county. There have been 876 fewer victims of vehicle crime, 247 fewer victims of burglary and 186 fewer victims of criminal damage.
The Chair, Derek Barker, said that this has been achieved through excellent partnership working across the county. This was echoed by Michele Williams the Divisional Chief Superintendent of Police, indicating that Conwy was an extremely safe part of the coutry to live and work.
